No, Hamish, nooo!

I know it was some brainbox or other who said death should always be a tragedy because, if not, it means life has become one but sometimes, gosh, it can be amusing. And if this headline - Labrador shoots its owner dead on hunting trip – isn’t one of the best of the year then, frick me, we’ve got some hilarity to look forward to.

Darling, it was Lord Henry in Oscar Wilde's The Picture of Dorian Gray. Just for you I shall add it to my quotable quotes. xxx

Well that sounds about right. Which reminds me I really ought to get around to buying Huysman's A Rebours - though I think I might be beyond corrupting these days.

Why is it that freak hunting accidents only ever happen in Texas...?

I was writing a story at work about a toy company that makes toy guns that fire marshmallows or something. Anyway, I was saying to one of the guys here that it was sort of ridiculous to combine confectionary with firearms as a toy for children. His reponse? "It actually seems totally normal to me... but then I'm from Texas."

The funniest thing is apparently these incidents are common. Man's best friend? I think not.
